Information on Inter-Library Loan of Records on Microfilm

Many of the record series in the State Archives are available in microfilm format and may be requested through Inter-Library Loan. Finding aids are available for frequently requested records available on microfilm through Inter-Library.

Requests for microfilm must be made through a local library (no loans to individuals). Librarians requesting interlibrary loan microfilm from the State Archives may send the request to  or by mail to New York State Archives - ILL, 11A36 Cultural Education Center, Albany, NY 12230.

The Librarian requesting the ILL must provide the following minimum information:

Name of requesting Institution (loans are made to libraries only, not to individuals)
Full mailing address (film is shipped via UPS, which will not deliver to a P.O. box)
Phone number (if ordering from outside the U.S., include country code)
Email address
Name of Librarian making the request
State Archives record series number and title
Roll number(s) (We will loan up to 6 reels, for approx. 4-6 weeks)
Name of the researcher for whom the ILL is requested (optional)

Please note that the Archives is not part of the OCLC or the New York State Library interlibrary loan systems so OCLC forms are not accepted. There is no charge by the State Archives for postage, packaging, or handling.

If you have questions, email or phone the archivist on duty at 518-474-8955.
